About The Study

The Lions EYES goal is to compare the traditional progressive acuity eye chart results to the results when using the automated device called the photorefractor.

An exhaustive study to assure the safety of the children and prove the efficacy (effectiveness) of the instruments compared to the traditional eye chart must happen. That’s exactly what the Lions EYES Research Study is all about.

Benefits of Photorefractor Screening

Improvements in vision screening will positively affect children across a wide spectrum of social, cultural and economic conditions.

Every child in Wisconsin and across the country could be screened annually at no cost to them.

Instrument-based screening by a refractor requires minimal cooperation by the child, is quick, and does not depend on a child’s behavioral response, literacy, or verbal skills.
